2015 Polls: IBB, Abdulsalam In Closed Door Meeting With 4 Northern Govs
Northern governors who weekend held closed door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the 2015 presidential election and the crises rocking the country held a similar meeting with two ex-military Heads of state today in Minna, Niger state. Those at the closed door meeting held at the presidential lodge of the Government House, in the state capital today include Governors Aliyu Babangida of Niger, Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Sule lamido of Jigawa and Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State.
The governors were to have arrived at the lodge at 12:01pm local time after which the two former military rulers arrived at 12:25 pm in a blue S500 Mercedes Benz with registration number AE 323 WSH while the meeting which started at 12:30 ended at about 2:10pm when they all came out of the lodge.
The meeting was said to have tabled the poor state of the nation’s economy, the disintegration of the ruling PDP and the return of anarchy to the country’s political landscape under the supervision of President Goodluck Jonathan. Speaking with some journalists after the meeting which lasted for about one and half hours, Gen. Babangida described the governors’ as “real patriots.”
“The solution to Governors Forum crisis, political issues which have come up and we are consulting to make sure that we all understand the issues and we all come out with solution, and we will also carry our people together as we go along.”
On the crisis rocking Rivers State now, Aliyu said “there is no gathering in Nigeria now that Rivers’ issue will not come up, but our meeting today is a larger issue than even the Governor’s Forum. We are discussing on how to solve them.”
