Ayinde, American Who Impregnated Daughters is not a Nigeria, Real Name is Eric McGill
Nigerian newspapers and blogs have been abuzz since yesterday with the news that an award winning music producer, Aswad Ayinde, had been sentenced to prison for 90 after he was found guilty of impregnating his own daughters.
Perhaps fooled by Aswad's Nigerian sounding name of Ayinde, many Nigerian media mistakenly assumed that he was Nigerian, however, investigation has established that Aswad Ayinde is not the man's real name but a monicker he coined and used for his production. His real name is Eric McGill and he is not of Nigerian descent neither was he born in Nigeria.
Ayinde, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, United States, directed the music video for "Killing me Softly" by the Fugees, a Haitian band that included world famous rapper, Wyclef Jean. Ayinde won ‘Best R&B Video’ at the 1996 MTV Music Video Awards.
