President Jonathan Rains Curses On APC Leaders…Says ‘They’re Confused And Will Continue To Be Confused

President Goodluck Jonathan Thursday rained curses on the leaders of the newly registered All Progressives Congress, APC, who he said will be disappointed by the imminent resolution of the crises rocking the ruling PDP as well as his emergence as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2015 elections.


Jonathan who spoke at the National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the PDP in Abuja Thursday said: “the chairman said it all, we waited that political activities will not start so early in the country, but because of the intimidating credentials of the PDP, people started  meeting, parties started coming together, and new ones  are being  formed, which is a blessing for all of us, all because people are confused about how will they manage PDP and they will continue to be confused”.

While boasting about the capacity of the party to resolve its differences, Jonathan expressed delight at the number of party leaders that attended the NEC meeting. ”I was not expecting to see so many people especially our senior party members but when I came in and I looked across and saw the faces I thank God that even though people believe that PDP will have issues, that we are divided, they will all be disappointed.

“There maybe disagreements and in all institutions even at the family level there must be disagreements and issues. But the key thing that makes life go on is our ability to resolve our crisis. No matter the disagreement, no matter the interests, politics they say is a game  of interests.We will resolve these differences amicably to make sure that every member of the party is happy.

“The chairman of Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih has been meeting various groups to make sure that we speak with one voice, and we will continue to speak with one voice. And those who continue to think that PDP cannot come together, that PDP cannot manage success, will be terribly disappointed. We will go to Eagles Square and take the right decision for our party”.

Meanwhile, the party has agreed to abide by a court ruling barring it from going ahead with its south west zonal congress earlier scheduled for Saturday August 24. This was part of the resolutions of the party NEC contained in a communique released to the media.

The south-west zonal congress has been subject of litigations as both Engineer Segun Oni and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the immediate past zonal chairman and national secretary, respectively had instituted separate appeals challenging the various courts pronouncements on their removal as national  officers of the party.

A federal high court in Osogbo, Osun state capital in a suit instituted by Prince Oyinlola had also restrained the PDP from conducting any election to fill the position of national scribe of the party vacated by the former Osun state governor.

The party at the end of its 62nd NEC meeting has however mandated the Professor Jerry Gana led special convention planning committee to proceed with the conduct of the convention slated for August 31.

In his welcome address at the meeting, National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur said: ”We need peace and friendly concord in our Party. We cannot reach our  destination in an atmosphere of bitterness and rivalry. I therefore call on all our party faithful and members across the  country to sheath their swords and enthrone enduring peace.  I want to commend the National  Reconciliation Committee for the good work it is  doing and encourage our members to take their grievances to the  committee or other organs of the party entrusted with the task of restoring peace in the party”.
