INEC Declares Anambra Elections “Inconclusive”; To Hold Supplementary Election Across State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the recently held governorship elections in Anambra State “inconclusive”, with supplementary elections scheduled to hold in certain areas owing to glaring irregularities and logistic difficulties.

Released results however have the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Willie Obiano, leading in close to 20 LGAs.

INEC is halting further announcement of results because the number of cancelled ballots far exceeded the margin of victory in the election, according to the INEC returning officer for the election.

The other candidates in the elections have all rejected the outcome of the polls owing to widespread irregularities and disenfranchisement of prospective voters; while calling for a rerun.

INEC has not announced the date(s) for the supplementary polls.
