EXCLUSIVE: Osoba Leads Gang Up Against Buhari, Tinubu, Akande and Atiku

In what appears a daring move, Olusegun Osoba, one time Governor of Ogun State, is said to be the brain behind the recent gang up to challenge the Buhari-Tinubu team for the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Seeing that the big slots are about to be filled up, the Osoba-led group have found new members. The group includes Osoba, Niyi Adebayo, Chief Onu, Alli Modu Sheriff and Tom Ikimi in its fold. The latest member is Sheriff, who is hell bent on securing a major position in the party. He is angry that the Buhari/ Tinubu group are bent on keeping the juicy position away from him because they are afraid it will rub off negatively on the party.

Just before the last interim executive meeting of the party, Sheriff was noticed spreading huge chunks of money around some key APC members in the interim exco in order to win their support and back him up in case he opts for a fight.

But perhaps the most surprising is the role of Olusegun Osoba, who is being fingered in virtually all crises around party. In Ogun state, a group allegedly sponsored by Osoba has split the party into two and Osoba is at loggerhead with Governor Ibikunle Amosun. The former governor is presently involved in convening several of the clandestine meetings being held in Abuja especially to challenge the current leadership of the party and cause a rift within the party. Chief Osoba, who is aggrieved that he might not get the national chairmanship of the party or any other key position, is said to have decided to battle the current leadership.

However, Osoba’s romance with the PDP government might be his undoing, sources say. It is on record that he is in a chummy relationship with the Presidency and is currently working with the PDP to undermine the APC. This is common knowledge particularly with his being tapped by the presidency to be part of the national dialogue in Abuja.

Osoba, a veteran journalist, is said to be spreading doctored information to media outlets to ridicule the leadership of the party and advance his own ambition. Many people are wondering about who the real Osoba is. He appears in public to be comfortable with the APC leadership, sharing the limelight, while in secret he is secretly plotting against the party.
