Boko Haram Displace Army Unit in Adamawa Community, Kills Many Residents

Soldiers deployed around Garkida, a community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State yesterday fled for their lives as a result of the heavy artillery from some members of the Boko Haram sect.
The sect which we gathered had a field day in an attack on the area left scores dead and injuring many others.

The insurgents reportedly displaced the Military unit in the town, forcing many residents to go into hiding, while whereabouts of hundreds of others is yet to be ascertained.
According to residents of Garkida town, who are now in their hiding places begging for God’s intervention through prayers, the insurgents stormed the town around 5: pm and as usual started shooting sporadically, attacking both residents and security operatives.
It was disclosed that security operatives took to their heels after they were overwhelmed by the fire power of the insurgents.
Residents of Garkida said the insurgents were seen within the vicinity of Zhur forest where the late Emir of Gwoza was killed.
They said the matter was reported to security operatives around the area but that they were not taken serious before the incident.
The insurgents reportedly stole some vehicles at Shaffa town of Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State last night and arrived at Manjakwa, where many locals claimed they saw them earlier today and reported same to security operatives.
“They never take anything serious. We have been reporting that these bad elements are around us. We saw them at Zhur, we saw them at Manjakwa, we saw them with their vehicles, with their weapons and we know they are neither security operatives nor vigilante. We know that they are Boko Haram members and we reported, but we were not taken serious, a resident said.
“As we speak, they have just passed in front of my house chanting ‘Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar’, meaning God is Great”, he said.
He said though they were indoors and their houses were not touched at the time, but that they had received calls from some of their relatives within the town who said the insurgents had killed some of them and set houses ablaze.
