Third Attempt By the Nigerian Army to Retake Domboa from Boko Haram Control Fails

For the third time in a row, the attempt by the Nigerian army to retake the town of Damboa in Borno State from the control of the dreaded Boko Haram sect has met a brick wall.

The first two attempts by the army has resulted in the death of some soldiers who met an ambushed laid by gunmen of the Boko Haram sect.

Subsequently, Nigerian military officials made further arrangement to send a contingent of Nigerian troops to the town for the third time to wrest Damboa township from the insurgents.

The insurgents had few weeks ago seized Damboa town and planted their flags in different locations, after killing more than 100 people and destroying countless number of properties. The sect in its attack in Damboa also captured a military base and killed an army Colonel who was the commander of the base.

Sources said failure of the Nigerian troops to retake Damboa from the control of Boko Haram is largely because of the fear by the soldiers to engage the insurgents whose fierce firepower they cannot match. They have retreated each time they made an attempts to retake the town.
