Emir Sanusi Meets Jonathan Again, Reconcile Differences

President Goodlcuk Jonathan and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, have finally resolved their differences after nearly a year of bitter relations, Premium Times is reporting.
Both men met in Abuja on Thursday and reconciled differences that once drove both men to the extremes of their offices.

Sanusi fell into the bad books of the president he raised an accusation that the government diverted $20 billion oil revenues from the accounts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The government denied the claim, and in turn, fired Sanusi who then was he Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), accusing him (Sanusi) of “financial recklessness”.
The fractured relation got to its peak when Mr. Sanusi was appointed the Emir of Kano in June, assuming one of the most powerful traditional stools in Nigeria.
But the president who was opposed to his emergence ordered the blockade of the Emir’s palace in Kano for days before it was lifted.
Both men met for the first time after the battle of wits in June, during the breaking of the Muslim fast, a yearly routine in which the president meets top government officials who are Muslims and other prominent Islamic leaders in the country. The Emir was said to have initiated a peace move that culminated in the meeting.
To further cement that success reached at the meeting, the two men met again on Thursday essentially for reconciliation, Premium Times source said.
The president was said to have urged peace, and announced that he had nothing against the emir and that he had forgotten everything that happened.
In return, Mr. Sanusi also preached peace saying he too had let go of the past.
The president and the emir later met privately for about 15 minutes, according to Premium Times sources.
Mr. Sanusi and his entourage left for Kano shortly after, and were on their way to the Abuja airport at the time of this report.
The emir was accompanied to the meeting by all senior members of the Kano Emirate council, while Vice President Namadi Sambo, the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, Attorney General, Mohammed Adoke, and the Foreign Affairs Minister, Aminu Wali also attended the meeting.
