8 APC Governors Ask Oyegun To Resign

The crisis currently rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC), over the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogara as the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representative Respectively, seem to have taken a further step higher as some governors under the party’s platform have asked it’s National Chairman, John Oyegun to resign.

The governors were said to have paid Oyegun a surprise visit at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja where they asked him to step down.

They were said to have cited the poor handling of the National Assembly leadership tussle which has since polarised the party as the basis for their demand.

At least 8 governors reportedly joined in making the demand, but it was not clear if they spoke for their other colleagues who were not present at the visit.

Those who were present during the visit include Adams Oshiomhole (Edo), Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Abubakar Bello (Niger) Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) and Abubuakar Badaru (Jigawa).

The party is yet to react to the governors’ demand as at the time of filing this report.
