Hunters Deployed To Rescue Olu Falae From Kidnappers …As Abductors Demand N100m Ransom

Kidnappers of the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Cheif Olu Falae has demanded for a N100 million ransom which they demanded must be paid before the elder statesman can be released.

The abductors made the demand Monday night after establishing contact with the politician’s family. Falae was abducted from his farm in Akure, Ondo state yesterday. Wife of the abducted politician, Mrs Rachael Falae said the abductors demanded for the payment of N100Million as ransom, a demand that must be met before Thursday.

She said one of the suspected abductors who spoke with a member of the family on telephone assured that her husband will be released as soon as the money was paid to them. Mrs Falae however pleaded with the abductors of her husband to release him unconditionally as the family could not afford to pay the ransom.

She said the abducted politician was not as rich as many people think, and therefore pleaded for his unconditional release. It was also gathered that hunters in Akure have been deployed to Falae’s farm where he was reportedly kidnapped. The hunters, it was learnt were working with the police detectives earlier deployed to the farm.

Condemning the abduction of Chief Falae, former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode said it “is not only unacceptable but it’s also an exceptionally dangerous development. I say this because he is not only an elder-statesman of our country but he is also one of the most revered leaders of Afenifere and the south-west. We cannot sit by idly and watch our leaders and elders being endangered, shamed and humiliated in this way. It is the government’s job to keep us all safe and secure and they are failing in that duty. I call on the President and our security agencies to effect the expeditious and immediate release of Chief Olu Falae. They must rescue him from these vagabonds and vandals as soon as possible before things get out of hand. Let it be clearly understood that if anything happens to him and if he doesn’t come home hale and hearty we will hold the Federal Government responsible and there will be consequences. Those that are in power would do well to take what I have said very seriously.”
